A couple of months ago,we were expecting some guests for lunch.Having prepared the dishes ,we got a call that half of the group would not be coming. That left us with a whole load of leftover rice.We converted it into rice crisps the next morning.
Soak the leftover rice in water for 15 minutes and drain completely.Add cumin seeds,a pinch of turmeric powder, chilli powder, salt and mix well.It should be like a paste but not watery.Lay out a plastic sheet / a plate and drop spoonfulls of this paste[don't make them very small coz they will shrink in size while drying],a little apart from each other and dry it in the sun till it turns crisp. It may take 2-3 days depending on the temperature.Once crisp, leave it indoors to cool.Store in an air tight container.
To serve, heat oil in a pan and deep fry till puffed and golden.Serve as a teatime snack /with rice.
