Palak Paneer | Side Dish For Roti

We are a family that is crazy about Palak Paneer! And I make it quite often as well. What is hard to digest is the fact that I have never posted this recipe so far!! I have posted a Vegan Palak paneer long ago and somehow never posted our favorite version!

When it was time to post something for Say Cheese event that I hosting here as a part of  Srivalli's Kids delight event, I remembered that this one is way over due and here is the recipe....

I saw this version in a TV show and have adapted it from that one. This is also for Blogging Marathon #48, Week 3,Day 3 under theme Kids Delight - Say Cheese...

I used:

Palak leaves from a large bunch
Paneer-150 grams
Coriander leaves- a handful
Green chilies-2, chopped
Ginger- 1" piece
Garlic-2 cloves
Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
Onion-1 small ,finely chopped
Garam masala- 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil- 1 teaspoon

Heat a pan with water.Keep a bowl of cold water nearby. Add a teaspoon of salt and bring to boil. Add the washed palak leaves and let it cook for 2 minutes. Remove the leaves from the hot water and put into the bowl of cold water. Leave it for 2 minutes and drain well.

In a blender jar, take the blanched palak leaves, coriander leaves, ginger, garlic and green chilies.Puree without adding water and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds. When it crackles, add the onion and saute till soft.

Add the palak puree and cook for 2 minutes and add water to get a gravy consistency .Add salt and mix well.
Add the paneer cubes and garam masala and mix gently. Simmer for 5 minutes and remove from heat.

Serve as a side dish with roti / chapathi.
