A Loving Baby Shower for Sapana

It's nice to savor tasty food. It's even more nice when someone else cooks it for us and it is a lot more nicer when some one else cooks it for us when we are carrying a little one and craving for all sorts of food stuffs! And a few years back,my friends proved this right by feeding me with an array of goodies when I was expecting Lil Dude.

But,this post is not about me!Just like the other time when my friends showered their love on me,today, we , a group of friends ,are presenting a virtual baby shower to our dear friend Sapana.

She is now miles away from home and I am sure she would love a little bit of pampering. Around here it a sort of custom to cook something special for the pregnant lady and that is exactly what we friends are doing for her.

Though we would have loved to have visited her in person and dish them out, it is not possible at this moment. So here we are giving a virtual baby shower to dear Sapana....

Besan Paratha, Boondi Raita,Mango Milkshake and Almond Rolls

Our Blogging Marathon group got together and decided to do a virtual baby shower for Sapana who blogs at Cooking with Sapana. We decided to cook and present something from her blog. Pradnya came up with cute logos

and Mir did a collage of our dishes.

The first dish that I cooked from her blog is Besan Paratha...

I used:

Besan-1 cups
Wheat flour- 1 cup
Onion-1 finely chopped
Coriander- a little, finely chopped
Ajwain-1/2 teaspoon
Red chili powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Garam masala-1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste

Take all the ingredients in a bowl and add water little by little and knead to a dough. It will be a bit sticky. Cover the bowl with a wet cloth to prevent it from drying out. Dust the work surface generously with wheat flour and take a ball of the dough and roll out into a paratha. Cook on a hot griddle till both sides are cooked and have brow spots on them. Drizzle a little oil while cooking if needed.

Serve with Pickle or raita.

I made Boondi Raita as a side dish for this Besan Paratha.

In a bowl, whisk yogurt with salt, dried mint leaves, rock salt, red chili powder and cumin powder. Soak the Boondi in water. After 2 minutes, squeeze it out and add to the whisked yogurt. Serve chilled garnished with some boondi as a side dish with paratha or flavored rice.

Rounding off the meal with a Mango shake

Blend together 1/2 a cup of mango pulp, with 200 ml milk,a few ice cubes and a pinch of cardamom powder. Serve topped with some choco chips.

Sapana, hope you enjoyed this meal that I cooked for you.Take care and have a safe and healthy journey through motherhood :)

Here is what our group has cooked for you...Enjoy the virtual treat...
