The book that I am currently reading is The Hunt For Kohinoor by Manpreet Sodhi Someshwar. This was sent for a review and I have finished 75% of the book and will be posting the review in a couple of days.It is a really thrilling one and I can't wait to finish this book!
Meanwhile, this month, I was partnered with Priya of Priya's Menu for Taste and Create.Taste and Create is an event started by Nicole and now carried on by Min.Each month we are paired with a partner blog and we have to cook and post one of their dishes.
I chose this simple dish from Priya's blog and made it this evening.Everyone enjoyed this at home, especially the kids!On one side I felt I was serving them an oily snack but on the other hand, it did have a lot of veggies. So that is a compensation, right!
Adapted from - Priya's Menu
Besan - 1 cup
Rice flour-2 tablespoons
Cabbage- a handful, finely chopped
Capsicum-1/2 small, finely chopped
Red chili powder- 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry
1.Take all the chopped / grated veggies in a bowl and add the besan, rice flour, salt and chili powder. Mix well.Sprinkle very little water and mix so that the veggies stick to the flour. Too much water will make the mixture very soggy.
2.Heat oil for deep frying.Check if it hot enough to fry by dropping in a small piece of the mixture. If it rises immediately, the oil is ready. If the mixture stays down, wait for a few minutes, if it rises to the top and is brown/ charred, reduce heat as the oil is too hot. Once the oil is hot, drop small portions into the oil and fry till they turn golden brown in color. Drain and repeat with the remaining mixture.
Serve with a cup of Coffee/ Tea
- If the mixture turns pasty after a while, add a little corn flour and besan.
- Too much besan will make it soft .Too much corn flour will make it very crisp. So add according to your taste.
- You can add finely chopped mint leaves and coriander leaves / curry leaves along with the veggies.
