While everyone is enjoying Pongal treats at home, I thought I will post a simple recipe for the new mother. This moong-Milk drink has been in my draft for more than 8 months and this month I have joined NaBloPoMo so that I can clear my drafts....

This drink was prepared by mom as soon as Lil Dude was born. I was hungry all the time and wanted to eat something. When summer came, I wanted more liquids and cool the body and this drink seemed perfect.

Both milk and moondhal are body coolants. Moong dal is a good source of protein and Milk is rich in Calcium.Both these together gives the body a lot of vital nutrients..

It is a very simple preparation and gets done in minutes....

Mom uses :

Moon dhal - 2 tablespoons
Milk -1 cup
Sugar to taste

  1. Pressure cook [or microwave] the  moong dhal till mushy. 
  2. In a pan heat milk and add the mashed moong dal, sugar.
  3. Remove from heat and serve hot / warm.

The quantity of moongdhal is totally your choice. Add more for a filling beverage or a little less for a thinner version of the drink...
